RED | WHITE is a unique love affair that seamlessly evolves into an XR experience: an erotic duet, two bodies intimately narrate their story.
As visitors step into the installation, they embark on a sensory adventure, exploring, observing, and engaging with the continuous flow of sound, imagery, and words.
At a pivotal moment, participants encounter VR stations, don virtual reality headsets, and become participants in the story.
RED | WHITE artfully navigates the delicate balance between desire and detachment, the natural and the artificial, reality and potentiality, togetherness and separation, the “here” and the “elsewhere”.
The physical space complements the world of virtual reality, offering a layered and enriched encounter—a true mise en abyme.
RED | WHITE consists of four ‘chapters,’ different experiences/dramatic levels: two VR films, a visual and sound art piece and a sound installation.
The central material for technological creation (specialized wall, LED panels, VR, etc.) is textual discourse and audio excerpts.
The dramaturgy of the installation is based on letters and other texts by Jessica Selountos, addressing themes of love, existential angst, the suffering subject, and the search for the “other.”
RED | WHITE was presented for the first time at the 64th International Thessaloniki Film Festival (November 2-12, 2023) as part of the festival’s Immersive – All Around Cinema section (Pier A, Port), with the financial support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports
